PROJECT SUMMARY

The Youth Exchange «Emotional Management Through Photography» aims to deepen participants’ emotional awareness and self-expression through the creative and reflective use of visual storytelling. Grounded in a peer-to-peer methodology, this initiative empowers young people—particularly those facing fewer opportunities—to engage in a transformative process of personal growth, using photography as a medium for introspection, communication, and connection.

Throughout the exchange, participants will gain practical skills in visual composition and narrative while exploring how visual art can become a powerful tool for emotional literacy. The experience also enhances youth workers’ capacity to facilitate similar processes within their communities, contributing to broader social inclusion and well-being.

Dates: 18-25 febrero 2025

  1. To learn the fundamentals of photographic storytelling, using their own cameras or phones to capture images that reflect personal experiences, moods, or internal states.
  2. To create curated image galleries around specific emotional themes, such as resilience, loneliness, joy, or transformation.
  3. To promote empathy, reduce stigma around emotional expression, and strengthen communication skills.
  4. To use photography to process and reframe challenging emotions—turning feelings such as anxiety or sadness into creative output.
  5. To examine how photography can foster connection, create safe spaces for vulnerability, and build a sense of agency in dealing with emotional challenges.
